Idol Ridge Winery, owned and operated by the Martin family, is perfectly placed up on a ridge overlooking Seneca Lake. Our lodge-style tasting room welcomes guests to taste its wide variety of wines, including unique sparkling, traditional vinifera, and their new wild-fermented series, Local Culture. Our range of wines speaks to their creative spirit, as Head Winemaker Phil Plummer is always excited to try something new in the cellar. His passion paired with the support of the Martin—family whose story began through innovation—has resulted in our ever-growing production of adventurous wines.
The Martin family first entered the industry in 1999 as we opened Martin’s Honey Farm & Meadery out of their garage in Sterling, NY. Originally beekeepers, the Martins explored the world of winemaking by producing mead using our honey which quickly blossomed into also producing unique fruit and grape wines. We soon moved production to Seneca Falls, NY and opened Montezuma Winery, a sister winery of Idol Ridge. Our growth resulted in the opening of Idol Ridge Winery in 2013, which is located on the east side of Seneca Lake in Lodi, NY. All of our wine is now produced by Head Winemaker, Phil Plummer and Assistant Winemaker, Alex Bienvenue at our Seneca Falls location.
Idol Ridge Winery proudly offers high-quality, award-winning, and passionate wines. We produce noteworthy wine including our WE 90 point 10 Years Rooted Blanc de Noir and ASWA Best in Sparkling Vinifera Category 2022 Sparkling Riesling String of Pearls while also producing funky, adventurous wines like Pinot Noir Pét-Nat and Ramato in their Local Culture series.
There is no question that our wines are produced with integrity and innovation in mind as Phil is always experimenting with new techniques, styles, and varieties. In partnership with local Finger Lakes growers, Idol Ridge produces wines using a range of vinifera, hybrid, and native varieties. You will almost always find a wine at Idol Ridge that you’ve never had anywhere else.
