FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Finger Lakes Wine Alliance Second Annual FLX Riesling Camp April 2-4, 2017
GENEVA, N.Y., April 25, 2017-
The Finger Lakes Wine Alliance (FLWA) hosted their second annual Finger Lakes Riesling Camp, April 2-4, 2017. This three-day invitation-only program is designed to identify, educate and orient Finger Lakes brand ambassadors in key markets. Twelve Finger Lakes wineries hosted twelve sommeliers and wine buyers from multiple cities including Boston, Chicago, NYC, Cincinnati and upstate NY markets. Riesling Camp kicked off with a Single Vineyard Riesling experience showcasing the variability of Rieslings driven by Finger Lakes terroir. Other experiences offered a library Riesling Tasting, Finger Lakes Viticulture/Riesling 101 and a Sparkling Riesling experience with multiple Finger Lakes Sparkling producers.
The highlight of Riesling Camp was the blending trial held at Finger Lakes Community College’s Viticulture and Wine Center where each participant was charged to make their own Riesling from multiple components. The finished Rieslings were later judged at a competition with bragging rights and an award ceremony to honor the top Riesling.
“I’m really looking forward to doing some Finger Lakes events both with our Wine Club and for the shop as a whole. Thank you a million times over for everything. I’ll never ever forget it.” stated Melissa Zeman, wine buyer and manager for Chicago Wine House.
