SENECA FALLS, NY – The Martin family is excited to announce their new ownership of Swedish Hill Winery & Vineyard located in Romulus, NY. This is the most recent endeavor for the Martin Family, who owns and operates Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery, Idol Ridge Winery & Alder Creek Distillery, and Penguin Bay Winery.
Swedish Hill had previously been owned by the Peterson family since 1986, producing a range of wines that have gained popularity throughout New York State. Previous to opening the doors to Swedish Hill, Dick and Cindy Peterson planted vines in 1969 in order to sell grapes to TaylorWinery, one of the few wineries in the Finger Lakes at the time. Their family roots run deep in the history of the Finger Lakes wine region, and it is a story the Martin family plans to continue to share as they blend the Peterson family legacy with theirs.
The addition of Swedish Hill Winery & Vineyard will allow the Martin family to expand their wine production, increase their wholesale presence in liquor stores and restaurants all across New York State, and allow them to welcome both new and familiar faces to their tasting room.
“After almost 25 years in the Finger Lakes wine industry, we are beyond excited to add Swedish Hill Winery & Vineyard to our portfolio,” states Co-Owner Bill Martin. “This acquisition will allow us to increase our sparkling wine production and custom work, which we are really looking forward to. Swedish Hill also has a great, loyal fan base who we are excited to welcome and hope they’ll follow along with us on this new journey.”
The Martin family plans to continue producing the wines everyone knows and loves while also giving it their own family touch.

Swedish Hill Winery & Vineyard’s tasting room is now open daily 10am-5pm for tastings at the bar or wine by the glass that can be enjoyed outside on the deck. All of their wine is available to purchase in their tasting room as well as most liquor stores throughout the state.
