How to Run an At-Home Comparative Tasting or Shoot Out

1. Gather a selection of Rieslings from different regions/AVA's vineyards, vintages or styles.

2. Have one person lead and arrange the Riesling in bags to create a blind tasting environment.

3. Have participants take notes.  What do they like about each wine? Dislike? After tasting all of the wines, what are the common elements of the wines you liked best?  Pay special attention to the flavor profiles and finish of each.

4. Pull the bags off and discuss each wine as a group.  have the tasting leader provide background information on winemaker's technical notes and vintages.

Was there a Riesling that stood out?  If so, make note of the style and seek out Rieslings from regions that produce that style and continue to explore.

Cheers!
